Essential WordPress Plugin

WordPress without plugin will not be fun. Even though there has been numerous posts covering this. Here’s my recomendation:

  1. Advanced Category Excluder. This plugin helps you to manage your content, RSS feeds, sidebar widgets, and fine tune where you want to display your posts, pages, links, link categories, or hide.
  2. Akismet. Used by millions, Akismet is quite possibly the best way in the world to protect your blog from comment and trackback spam. It keeps your site protected from spam even while you sleep.
  3. All in One SEO Pack. Out-of-the-box SEO for your WordPress blog.
  4. AntiVirus. Security solution as a smart, effectively plugin to protect your blog against exploits and spam injections.
  5. Bad Behavior. Deny automated spambots access to your PHP-based Web site.
  6. Contact Form 7. Just another contact form plugin. Simple but flexible.
  7. Disqus Comment System. As blogged before. The Disqus comment system replaces your WordPress comment system with your comments hosted and powered by Disqus. Head over to the Comments admin page to set up your DISQUS Comment System.
  8. FD Feedburner Plugin. Redirects all feeds to a Feedburner feed
  9. Fluency Admin. Give your WordPress admin the Fluency look. You can customize Fluency using the options found under ‘Fluency Options’ in the ‘Settings’ menu.
  10. Google Analyticator. Adds the necessary JavaScript code to enable Google’s Analytics. After enabling this plugin visit the settings page and enter your Google Analytics’ UID and enable logging.
  11. Google XML Sitemaps. This plugin will generate a special XML sitemap which will help search engines like Google, Yahoo, Bing and Ask.com to better index your blog.
  12. Login LockDown. Adds some extra security to WordPress by restricting the rate at which failed logins can be re-attempted from a given IP range.
  13. More Fields. Add more input boxes to use on the write/edit page.
