I love Panic’s CandyBar 3 (who doesn’t?)! This icon customizer and organizer is simply amazing. It’s beautiful, unique, and have break through interface. On version 3, they pushed it further more! This Leopard-only application has Iconfactory’s Pixadex built right in and it can organize your Docks too.

Since the release and the not-so-good first impression buying experience, I use CandyBar 3 application obviously to organize all of the great icons that I found on Iconfactory and MacThemes’s Releases & Update section.

Just like its previous version, CandyBar 3 is a great automated system icon replacer. But since I don’t change them frequently (Agua for the win!), I use CandyBar 3 mainly just to replace application icon with the icons released by those talented artists on MacThemes forum.

CandyBar 3 is so sweet, but to me, it has several issues:

Confusing taxonomy. CandyBar 3’s idea about organizing Docks is sweet but they should distinguish the "icon collection" (IC) and "icon collection with Dock that have no icon" (ICWDTHNI). I have several ICWDTHNIs (e.g. Jamie’s Venom) that looks "it shouldn’t be there with those IC guys" feeling every time I look them.

Stacks. Since optica optima discovered the first idea, stacks are great and fun to dressed-up, and people already wrote some applications for handling it (Palette, Stacks In Da Place [free]). CandyBar will be super sweet 100% sugar definitely, if supports it.

So, let’s contact Cabel Sasser of Panic as usual shall we?

Hi Cabel,

I want to suggest CandyBar3 to handle dock better. Because it’s little bit weird to have an icon collection without any icon and only have dock in it. Take Venom Dock by Jamie Jansen on MacThemes as an example.
How about to workaround this ‘taxonomy inconsistency’ by having 2 types of taxonomies: Icon & Dock.
It would be 3 if CB3 covers stack icons also (:
I’m sure the great people at Panic could come up with efficient solution about this.

Well, that’s my 0.0000002$.

He replied:

Felix,

Thanks for writing. We think Apple will make some changes to stacks soon — stay tuned. :)

Best,
Cabel

Well, let’s wait and see …
